being adventurous

it was cold...weather.com lies to me.

this was from this past thursday - running on 3 hours of sleep i couldn't find any of my standbys so i just threw this on...

not sure it's particularly flattering but so be it.

sweater: Gap (from friend)
tank: Canada
skirt: vintage
tights: h&m
necklace: vintage

halloween!

haha no one had a clue what my costume was supposed to be.

to be fair, i didn't know either.

here it is, in all of its crushed velvet glory. it's billed as a "medieval countess" costume.

i have issues with heels. i buy them in my size, and then as I wear them, i swear there's enough room to put like two fingers between my foot and my shoe!
it fits fine in the store but as soon as I start walking on concrete, we run into MAJ problems.

'tis a disaster dolls. any advice on what I should do? when I buy shoes a size smaller, they hurt like hell.

maybe i just have abnormally sized feet.

polywhoring

Gala by prblms4loki

I KNEW IT.
I knew that as soon as this website popped up everywhere, I'd spent hours on it if I went.

And now that I have NO TIME to shop, this is my guilty pleasure. What else shall I do in the library while it's 3AM and I have a paper due?! Procrastination...that's the life.

This is definitely what I would wear to a formal event. The ruffles make it fun and the shoes pick up the color in the hem of the dress! If only I could afford Sergio Rossi and Chloe. I wish.

back to school

sigh, i'm back on campus. it's only been a week and it seems like the workload is already huge.

i guess this is what third year's like.
my outfits have been pretty tame. i really like the new trends of tights with booties and open-toed shoes and shorts and skirts....

IF EVERY FREAKIN' FIRST YEAR WASN'T WEARING THE SAME THING!
it's like they ALL look the same. it's awful. UChicago's becoming so much more normal.

but without further ado, some of my outfits, taking advantage of the semi-warm weather (aka the 50s before it dips into the low 30s)

it was the first cold day, but my favorite sweater looked so boring. i decided a dash of red was perfect. (sweater: express, tank: canada, necklace: macy's, scarf: urban behavior, jeans: bitten by sjp)

knit tights on the one day it actually warmed up...boo. but a smashing vintage skirt nevertheless (top: f.21, skirt: VINTAGE SCORE! haha I love my mom's closet, tights: h&m)

slightly inappropriate but I'm sure no one will call me on it. formal attire for chapter. whoo. fun. (sweater: urban behavior, tank: route 66, tights: h&m, necklace: China pearls, shoes: wanted, with a faux red sole haha)

i'm just so unenthusiastic about fall now that it's here!

i waited all summer so I could finally start layering things and now i'm SO BORED.
course, that may be due to chicago not HAVING A FALL. we kinda skip from summer to winter.
tis awful.

anyone have suggestions for a well-knit pair of tights that'll keep me warm?

muchos besos!

rather fifties.

dress: vintage skirt
blazer: charlotte russe
thigh-high socks (sort of): vintage
shoes: Payless

I felt like wearing a dress today, though it was cold and rainy and I was actually planning on spending quite a lot of time outside.

I went to the Renegade Craft fair. It's a great idea, don't get me wrong. HOWEVER, as a poor college student, I could afford absolutely nothing.
Everything I loved was super expensive. I went with a friend, and we soon developed a signal for reemerging into the wet air outside of the booths when we'd determined that the merchandise was wayy to expensive for us.

But onto my outfit!
It's actually a very long dress with an elastic waist worn as a dress. I love it and I adore polka-dots, so it simply had to be. It was my mom's, so it's vint.

The blazer, I'd actually been trying to figure out a wa to wear it. First I thought that I'd just pair it with a tank and pants or something, but then realized that, durr, without heels in that outfit, it'll make me look stumpy. Tried it on with the dress/skirt instead of a belt, and voila! An outfit was born.

I had a scarf around my neck earlier, but it was itchy and so it came off. It was a black sheer number, rather Parisian.

ps. has anyone seen those Dentyne commericals? the ones about being unplugged? I LOVE THEM. I have liberated one for myself. mwhahahaha
